Dr. Maren Borkert
Born 1975
Diploma in Romanistic Studies (I, E, Sociology); PhD in Sociology, thesis on integrating migrants in Italy; Marie-Curie-Fellow in Padua (I);
From 2001 to 2007 Maren worked as freelancer for various migration research institutes in Europe, including the European Forum for Migration Studies (efms) and the International and European Forum on Migration Research (FIERI). From 2007 to 2008 Assitant of Prof. Richard Münch at the University of Bamberg. From 2008-2010 Research Officer at the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) in Vienna where Maren coordinated and implemented various research projects in the area of migration, development and integration. Among those: the EU comparative research project ‘Promoting Sustainable Policies for Integration’ (PROSINT) funded under the European Integration Fund and the ‘Study on the Assessment of the Extent of Different Types of Trafficking (Trafficking for Sexual Exploitation and Labour Exploitation, Trafficking of Children and Organ Trafficking) in 17 European Member States’, commissioned by the General Directorate Justice, Freedom and Security (JLS). She elaborated an eLearning tool on Project Management for Development Practitioners on behalf of the EC-UN Joint Initiative on Migration and Development and realized the international conference on ‘ICT and Migration: Mobility and Cohesion in the Digital Age’.
