Louis Ulrich
Born 1963.
Sociologist, currently working as Research Coodinator of the Department Migration and Development of the Soros Foundation Romania, member of the Soros Foundations Network. In this capacity I coordinated various researches on different migration topics (Romanian emigration in Italy and Spain, national management of immigration in Romania, image of the foreigners in Romania and others). A former member of Sociology and Social Work Faculty, at the University of Bucharest and Political Sciences Faculty, at the National School for Political and Administration Sciences, Bucharest. I taught courses for BA level and Master Degree level and supervized student’s training and dissertations in organizational sociology and political sociology.I hold a MA degree in Sociology from the Department of Sociology, University of Bucharest and a MA in Comparative Social Studies from the University of Amsterdam.
From 1998 to 2005 I worked as National Coodinator of the Anti-Trafficking in Human Beings Programmes of the International Organization for Migration, Mission in Romania.
As an independent consultant I carried out various researches and training activities in Roma communities, on Roma migration, anti-bias education, oral history, and I worked as a key expert in project design and implementation for UNICEF, UNDP Romania, Open Society Foundation, King Baudoin Foundation, Save the Children in the field of human rights, migration, protection of victims of trafficking and disadvantage groups
