Dr. Rano Turaeva-Hoehne

Born 1975 Degree: PhD in Social Anthropology

2002-present, various International agencies Delivering consultancy reports for different private and International firms on capacity building, institutional analysis, labour market institutional asessment, and political analysis. Analysis of the asylum cases, expert reports for the solicitors of Home Office. Providing expert evidence and expert knowledge on issues related to the region of expertise (Central Asia).

2005-2010, Max PLanck Institute for Social Anthropology, Germany

Research on migration in post-Soviet space, informal economy, ethnic networks. Part of fieldwork for PhD thesis. Anthropological fieldwork. The data produced from this fieldwork was big and was published in several papers in addition to the two field reports submitted to the Institute. Most of the data from this fieldwork was integrated into the thesis. The methods used in this fieldwork were ethnography, travelling records, communication analysis, socio-economic survey, historical research with partial work in archives. It was a multi-cited field research with travelling to several locations in Uzbekistan.

2002-2004 Local NGO Uzbekistan Training and curriculum development, capacity building. Management of the projects funded by International organizations, proposal writing and background research, liaison work between local government, international donors and NGO. Main achievement of this experience is research management, fundraising and excellent communication skills with people of diverse social and intellectual background (interviewing victims of trafficking on human beings).
