Dr. Frauke Miera

Frauke Miera, Dr. phil., 1993 diploma in political sciences, Freie Universität Berlin, 2004 PhD dissertation on the topic “Migration from Poland to Germany since 1945. From the Conflict of Systems to Processes of Transnationalisation and Community-Building”  („Migration aus Polen nach Deutschland seit 1945. Vom Systemkonflikt zu Prozessen der Transnationalisierung und Community-Bildung“). 1995-1998 research assistant at the Social Science Research Centre Berlin (Wissenschaftszentrum Berlin für Sozialforschung), afterwards freelance research and teaching on the topic of migration and integration, amongst others, at the Internationale Frauenuniversität e. V., Hannover, Otto-Suhr-Institut, FU Berlin.
Exhibition organiser at the Haus der Geschichte der Bundesrepublik Deutschland, Bonn (2000-2002), and at the German Historical Museum (Deutsches Historisches Museum Berlin) (2004-2005) (Exhibition: Immigration-Country Germany. Migrations 1500-2005).
Research occupation in the project “MIGSYS Immigrants, policies and migration systems” (International Metropolis Network and the Population, Migration and Environment, 2006-2007), spring 2006 guest lecturer at the University of Southampton, UK, research assistant at the Europe-University Viadrina, Frankfurt (Oder), collaboration at the EU-research project “EMILIE – A European Approach to Multicultural Citizenship: Legal, political and educational challenges” (RP6 – European Commission, GD Forschung, 2006-2009) (emilie.eliamep.gr).
Project manager of the exhibition and collection concept  „Migration Makes History“ at the Kreuzberg Museum, Berlin, in cooperation with the Foundation Stadtmuseum Berlin, aided by the Capital Cultural Fund (Hauptstadtkulturfonds Berlin) (2010-2011).
