Dr. Daniel Faas
Geb. 1976, Dr. Daniel Faas ist Lecturer in Sociology am Trinity College Dublin sowie Erasmus and Visiting Student Coordinator. Davor war er Marie Curie Research Fellow an der Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy in Athen und verantwortlich für das Projekt ´Multicultural Europe´ (FP6). Dr. Faas ist gelegentlich Berater in der Generaldirektion Bildung und Kultur der Europäischen Kommission im Rahmen des Programms ´Allgemeine und berufliche Bildung 2010´ sowie Consultant im irischen Bildungsministerium (DES) im Zusammenhang mit der ´Intercultural Education Strategy´.
Daniel Faas promovierte in Bildungssoziologie an der University of Cambridge mithilfe eines Stipendiums der Britischen Forschungsgemeinschaft für Wirtschafts- und Sozialwissenschaften (ESRC). Er hat ausserdem einen Magister (MPhil) in Educational Research der University of Cambridge sowie das Staatsexamen in Englisch und Geographie.
Seine aktuellen Forschungsinteressen und Lehrangebote beinhalten: Kulturelle Vielfalt und Multikulturalismus in Europa; nationale und europäische Migrations- und Bildungspolitik; Einflüsse der europäischen Integration auf Bildungsprozesse und Identitätsentwicklung; sowie vergleichende Bildungsplanentwicklung.
Dr. Faas ist Mitarbeiter im Forschungsprojekt ´Citizenship Integration in Northwest European Migration Societies´, das koordiniert wird von der Universität Aarhus, Dänemark. Er ist Stipendiat der Fulbright Kommission für das Projekt ´Immigrant Incorporation and Civic Cohesion in Europe and the United States´ an der University of California, Berkeley in 2009 und Research Associate im Institute for International Integration Studies (IIIS) am Trinity College Dublin.
Dr. Faas ist Mitglied der Britischen Gesellschaft für Erziehungswissenschaften (BERA); der Europäischen Gesellschaft für Erziehungswissenschaften (EERA); der Europäischen Gesellschaft für Soziologie (ESA); der Internationalen Gesellschaft für Soziologie (ISA), sowie des Europäischen Netzwerkes für Bildungspolitik (EEPN). Von 2004-2009 war er ordentliches Gemeinderatsmitglied in Unterreichenbach.
