Network Migration came into being from the “Working Group on European Migration History” ("Arbeitskreis Europäische Migrationsgeschichte"), an interdisciplinary cooperation existing since 1996, made up of young academics from the areas of history, cultural anthropology, political science and sociology. The network is a registered association (eingetragener Verein) according to German law, but has members in all of Europe who meet in subject oriented working groups. The network is led by a board made up of five members.
